Scott Pruett & Memo Rojas in the No. 01 TELMEX BMW Riley (DP) and Paul Dalla Lana & Bill Auberlen in the No. 94 Turner Motorsport BMW M3 (GT) won the Grand Prix of Miami while Ryan Ellis & Ian Baas in the No. 171 APR Motorsport VW GTI (ST) took top honors in the Kia 200. Auberlen and Dalla Lana won the GS class in the Kia 200 in the No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M3, making them the first drivers since 2003 to win two different races in one day.

After early brake problems put the No. 99 Gainsco Chevrolet Riley several laps down, problems continued just past midnight as an exhaust issue brought the Daytona Prototype back to the garage. The stop also resulted in a driver change which brought Jimmie Johnson back to the wheel.
